Covenant Student Ministries
Covenant Student Ministries is an involved and vibrant community dedicated to serving God through worship, education, service, that meets every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening.
“The goal of the Covenant Presbyterian Church Student Ministry Program is to glorify God through the enrichment and strengthening of relationships with each other and with God through the equipping of young people with appropriate tools for theologically competent discernment within the Body of Christ.”
Confirmation Class: Learn about the Confirmation class here!
Echo56: The “tween” years of 5th and 6th grade can be tough! Too old to hang out with the elementary-age kids and too bored by the ‘seriousness’ of the older groups. Covenant Student Ministries provides a special place for the energy, imagination, and humor of pre-adolescents as they explore and discover the greatness and mystery of God! With lesson plans that blend visual, reading, aural, and kinesthetic approaches, Echo56 presents the story of God and us in ways that stimulate durable learning and establish lifelong spiritual habits. For 5th graders Echo56 puts the finishing touches on the laying of the foundation for Confirmation Class preparation and is the beginning of the Confirmation journey for 6th graders.
SEgue: The 7th and 8th grade years are a crucial time for spiritual development at Covenant. Sundays and Wednesdays will provide the essential structure for these Confirmation Training years. Middle school age students are capable of learning that is challenging, intentional, and integrative. The intended outcome of the Confirmation Program at Covenant is a young person who is knowledgeable about her or his faith, who is committed to Jesus Christ, and who is intentional about living a life of Christian discipleship.
Pulse: It is no secret that the high school years can be tumultuous and overly busy times! Thankfully Covenant offers a space of safe harbor to high schoolers. The unfortunate truth is that the high school years are when extracurricular activities and other distractions can begin to pull students farther and farther away from the church community. Sunday and Wednesday Pulse meets to build affirming and healthy relationships among students and with God that will assist with cultivating a healthy Christian identity that will persist through the college/career years. With no topic off limits, Pulse is a safe place for asking the tough questions and for wrestling with scripture and with God.
Regular Student Community Events
Sunday Morning 9:45-10:45: Since Sundays have traditionally been the day that has been faithfully reserved and protected for family worship and spiritual education, Covenant continues to provide first-class spiritual development opportunities for Students 5th-12th Grade. Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 is the time for your student to take their faith development to a higher level as we really dig into God’s message to us in the Bible. All grade levels utilize the Feasting on the Word Curriculum for their age level which follows the Revised Lectionary passage for that particular Sunday. This allows their learning to dovetail with the message that they receive during the sermon in worship as they experience scripture in ways tailored for their exact age level.
Sunday Echo56 (5th & 6th Grade) Meets in room 12
Sunday SEgue (7th & 8th Grade) Meets in room 14
Sunday Pulse (9th-12th Grade) Meets in room 15
Wednesday 6:00-7:15 pm: Wednesday evenings continue to be honored as sacred time at Covenant! At 6:00 pm Echo56, SEgue, and Pulse meet together in the Great Room Hallway for a fantastic meal and community building. At 6:30 each group breaks out for games, worship, sometimes more food, relevant messages, and tough (and sometimes uncomfortable) questions as we strive to strengthen our relationships with each other, with ourselves, and with God.
